Summer may be around the corner, but for the past three weeks we’ve been enjoying warmer than normal temperatures (hazzah global warming!). The air quality has been horrendous and mold has been off the charts. People haven’t really been speaking about sunscreen through.
I can’t say I’ve ever been pro-sunscreen. When it was possible, I loved soaking up the sun and getting nice and dark, but I lived in the water most of my childhood, so the Coppertone my mother applied just didn’t stay on. Once I got into middle school I completely ditched the idea of sun block all together and meandered, instead to cocoa butter and coconut oil (partially because I was more concerned with skin being moisturized and partial because it smelled fantastic).
It wasn’t until about six years ago that I started hearing about how toxic sunblock was. Most contained hazardous chemicals and petroleum-based additives, which are known carcinogens.
